| Saturday, June 5th Making 'Your Old Guitar' Video Los Angeles , CA
I flew to LA to film a video with Ryan Bartley for the song 'Your Old Guitar.' Ryan had come up with a really cool concept for this video of using a ghost image. He orginally filmed it with himself when he was still working on the video for 'Empty.' I liked it so much I decided to have re-shoot the same footage but with me instead. It was all filmed in his apartment late that afternoon and evening. It took about 3 hours. Sunday, June 6th Making 'Almost Real' Video Los Angeles, CA
We filmed a video for 'Almost Real' early in the afternoon on the way to LAX . Most of the footage was shot in the back of Ryan's car. It was a simple concept Ryan came up with the night before that has me singing the song while I'm riding to the airport. We spent a couple hours filming it starting at my hotel in downtown LA and then we went on and off the freeway and filmed the rest on the way to the airport including a tour through south central. Ryan mounted the camera next to to himself in the driver's seat and directed me though the rear view mirror while driving. Fortunately we didn't get in or cause any accidents.
Monday, June 28th Moontower Recording Sessions - Day 1 Cambridge , MA
Pete, Dave and myself went into Moontower studios with Brian Brown to record demos of some new songs I'd been working on. The sessions were scheduled over 3 evenings. The first evening we got setup and recorded basic tracks for some of the new tunes including 'Wrong Impression', 'Let's Be Friends' and 'Ships.'
Tuesday, June 29th Moontower Recording Sessions - Day 2 Cambridge , MA
We all came back to do overdubs for 'Let's Be Friends' and 'Ships.' This was mainly Pete doing keys and Dave on percussion. We also recorded the song 'A Matter of Time.' I decided to leave 'Wrong Impression' alone because I didn't like how our initial take came out and I figured it would be better to focus on the other tunes.
Wednesday, June 30th Moontower Recording Sessions - Day 3 Cambridge, MA
I went in with just Brian to do vocal and guitar overdubs on all 3 tracks. We then did rough mixes of all of them. The session mix for 'Let's Be Friends' came out great. I was really happy with the sessions especially considering it had been months since we had played together as a band. Plus, we only had one rehearsal on Sunday before going into the studio.
